Mad Heidi

Mad Heidi is an upcoming English-language Swiss/Finnish film directed by Johannes Hartmann and produced by Tero Kaukomaa and Valentin Greutert. The film stars Jessy Moravec in the title role.[1] Dubbed as the "World's First Swissploitation Movie", it is a parody of the Swiss children's storybook character Heidi, set in a dystopian Switzerland.[2]

The film is currently being crowdfunded through its official website, with a target budget of US$1 million and a projected release date of 2020.[3][4]

Plot

In the near future, where the world is torn apart by war and Switzerland has sealed itself off as an island haven for the wealthy, Heidi wages a one-woman war against the cheese magnate who rules the country with an iron fist.

Production

The film's website and crowdfunding campaign went online in 25 September 2018, with the initial goal of US$30,000 raised within the first five days. The campaign is currently tracking its third goal of US$150,000 until 30 June 2019.[3][4][5]

Filming

Filming is planned to begin in the fall of 2019.[3][4]

Marketing

The production team spent three days shooting the first promo teaser in August 2017.[6] The teaser was uploaded to YouTube on 24 September 2018.[7]

In April 2019, one of the film's screenwriters was dismissed from his day job as a civilian employee at the security department of Zurich Airport Police after supervisors thought the violent nature of the film was unsuitable and he had not asked permission to take a second job.[8][9]
