History

Construction timeline

On October 16, 2015, MSC Cruises performed the steel cutting of what would be their second Seaside-class ship.[3] In July 2016, MSC Cruises announced that the name of their second Seaside-class ship would be the MSC Seaview.[4] Her keel laying and coin ceremony was on February 2, 2017.[5][6] On August 23, 2017, the MSC Seaview was floated out from the Fincantieri shipyard[7] and began her sea trials on April 23, 2018.[8]

The ship was delivered to MSC Cruises on June 4, 2018[9] and was christened by Sophia Loren on June 9, 2018 at a ceremony in Genoa.[9][10][11]

Service and deployments

The MSC Seaview spent her maiden season in the Western Mediterranean before repositioning to Santos, Brazil later that year to serve MSC's South America program during the fall and winter seasons.[8] She performs this rotation until being redeployed to Dubai to cruise the Persian Gulf in Fall 2020.[12]
