Unlike in England, reserve teams in Spain play in the same football pyramid as their senior team rather than a separate league.

The team is officially known as Elche CF Ilicitano on the club's official promotion and website, but Professional Football League rules prohibit B teams from having different names to their parent.

The club had a good start in 2019-20 season, being in 3rd position after first 8 matches without a loss.[2]
