Youth and college

On January 2, 2013, Ainscough committed to play college soccer for Stanford University.[1] Ainscough made five appearances for the Cardinal his freshman year, before seeking European football opportunities.

Growing up in the FC Boston youth system, Ainscough made the move to Iceland to sign with UMF Leiknir Fáskrúdsfjördur in 2016 before heading to VV Alverna in the Netherlands in August that same year. Ainscough returned to FC Boston for the USL League Two season in 2017.[2] He then returned for a second stint in Germany after the USL League Two season with SPVGG Bayreuth.[3]

On March 30, 2019, Ainscough made his full professional debut for the Richmond Kickers in a 2–3 loss to Lansing Ignite FC. Ainscough came on in the 63rd minute for Josh Hughes.[4]
